It is still 2007, but I am still trying to set up this blog and wanted to be able to blog a picture from flickr. I thought I would try to send a recent watercolor.

A New Beginning

After repeated failed attempt to access my old blog I have surrendered and created, I hope a new blog. I am not sure where this blog will go or how it will fair.....We shall see.
Tomorrow is the first day of the new year, 2008.
Looking out of my window I see a white world of snow and ice and now, new snow is falling on the bare branches and covering the seeds that I just put on the bird feeders.





The Blue jays have arrived aggressive and rauchous leaving the other birds intimidated, except for the turtle doves ,who like large tanks, seem undisturbed. Even among the jays the is a definate pecking order and those of lower caste are frightened off the feeder. The finches and juncos quickly flit in and off. When the bigger jays come in like a 747 for a landing they all scatter quickly. the tracks of a few deer that come at night wander about my yard, I think that some of the tracks are from a racoon, perhaps. there have been fewer racoons and deer since there have been new homes added down the road. Last year I had wild turkeys in the yard and some cayotes howling at night but they seem to have fled the urban encroachment.

I have been experimenting with monotypes, using a acrylic plate and watercolors. the results have been interesting and fun. This is one of the small prints I made.


Happy New Year.....Can I hope for a better year. Iowa will soon hold their caucus and none of the players are really giving me any hope for the years to come. I sure will be glad when they move on to another state and won't be calling me constantly for my support. I don't even answer the phone any more becaus I know it wolll be Hillary or Obama
